From early morning through to the wee hours of the night, rescuers send out and receive pleas about animals that are in life and death situations:
DOGS DYING IN THE HEAT - BEGGING, BEGGING !!!!!!!!!!
One of our rescued dogs, died today while waiting to be pulled on Monday morning for vetting and boarding. In the past, I have attempted to convey just how treacherous conditions are at this shelter. I guess I haven't done a good enough job of it.

PLEASE, PLEASE HELP!!

Over 150 animals were euthanized last week! 63 in ONE day!

HURRY, SO MANY SWEET 5 WEEK OLD TO 8 WEEK OLD BABY BC, LAB, AUSSIE & SWEET PIT PUPPIES & MANY YOUNG DOGS & KITTIES WILL ALL BE GASSED TO DEATH!!! PLEASE SAVE THEM!!!
THIS IS THE ONLY LIFE THESE PUPPIES EVER HAVE A CHANCE TO LIVE!!!

The rescuer has walked down the hallway lined with kennels. With camera in hand the rescuer takes pictures of the innocent animals living their last days behind bars, sleeping on wet concrete floors and drinking out of rusty buckets. "I give each one a treat. I tell them that someone will come to get them soon and that they are not forgotten. Their eyes follow me as I close the door to their kennel." The need is great and the resources are few. Every day rescuers are forced to play God due to limited funds and a lack of space to house another needy animal. It's difficult to choose who will be given a chance at life and who will be left behind.
Twenty-four hours after the rescuer posted these pictures and put out the plea for help, she send out another email.
THEY KILLED ALL PUPPIES-DOZENS...ALL DIED BEFORE 9:30 A.M.
I TOOK MY ENTIRE DAY OFF TO POST FOR HELP FOR THESE DOGS. I WAS ONLINE 9 HOURS.

Despite the heartbreaking news, and the devestation felt by the rescuer, there is often little time to grieve. The rescuer continues to try and save the lives of the few animals that remain in the shelter by sending out yet another plea.

IF ANYONE CARES TO SAVE THE FEW PUPPIES LEFT ALIVE:
THE LITTLE LAB/RETRIEVER PUPS &
LITTLE LAB BROWN PUPPY & VERY TINY AMERICAN PIT TERRIER MIXES & MOM. THEY ALL HAVE 24 HOURS LEFT BEFORE THEY ARE EUTHANIZED.

With hundreds of animals being brought into the shelters every month, it's difficult to keep up the pace that's needed to save lives. One rescuer wrote:

"As the days of summer fade, so does the hope that was once visible in the eyes of these awesome animals. Now many seem to have given up, spending a good bit of their time sleeping. They have been discarded like summer's popsicle wrappers. They want nothing more than to be loved....to be given that chance to romp in the grass, play catch with their human family or snuggle on the couch or in a lap watching TV. But they currently reside on death row in a state where the unwanted animal numbers are astronomical and local rescues are filled to overflowing without the space or funds to help them. There have been so many drop offs and owner surrenders, most left without a name being given."

The rescuers prayer for this next group of animals on death row is the same:
"I pray that they will have the opportunity of a loving home where they might learn that not all humans will abandon them."

You can play a part in answering this prayer by supporting rescue!
